Ian Hazard-Bill was born and raised amongst the grassy oak hills and redwood valleys just north of San Francisco. His Father is an Architect and his Mother is a Painter/Graphic Designer, so it was no surprise, to people who knew him, that when he was introduced to ceramics in High School he took an instant liking to it and has pursued it ever since. He did a 3 month internship in the Spanish countryside with Seth Cardew, worked out of a home studio in Marin County for a time. He went to The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA where he studied Food Systems, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Architecture as well as ceramics. During his time at Evergreen and in Olympia he decided to commit his energy into Ceramic Art and Pottery. After graduating from Evergreen he enrolled in a Residency at the Cub Creek Foundation where he currently works and lives. Outside of clay he loves to play soccer, bake bread, garden, and be out in the wilderness.
